A Little Get Away

1

For some days now, Ima and Abba have been telling me we are going somewhere to stay at a hotel, but the wouldn’t tell me where.

They picked me up from school and off we went . . . on a loooooong drive that I thought would never end. “How much longer?” “Are we getting close?” “Are we there yet?” I kept asking a different question, hoping for a good answer, but Abba always said, “Be patient, we’re getting closer every minute.” It certainly didn’t feel like we were getting closer, but all I could do was wait to see how long it would take to get there.

Along the way, we played some games, Ima read with me, and we looked to see if we could see anything interesting. At a restroom stop, Abba took this picture:

He told me that I’m his sunflower. :-)

After that stop, we kept driving and driving and driving. I didn’t have any idea where we were or where we were going. They just kept saying, “Be patient, you’ll like the place we’re going.” It got later and later and as the sun started to go down it seemed like there wasn’t much further we could go. Here’s a photo I took of the sun going down:

Abba was really impressed with this photo.

After we took some pictures of the sun going down, Abba said that we were getting really close. I was probably would have been more excited if I hadn’t been so bored from the looooong drive. Anyway, we started going up a mountain and Abba said, “We’re here!”

I didn’t know what to think of the place until we went inside our A-frame cabin:

It has an upstairs, and guess who gets to sleep there. Me!!!! I can also jump down on the beds below, but not from the top. This is going to be so much fun!!!!! This place also has a swimming pool that will be open tomorrow, and Ima brought my stuff!
